For the love of chrysanthemums

Last year we grew chrysanthemums for the first time in one of the polytunnels at the farm. After falling in love with their jewel-like colours and peppery scent (and reliability as a long-lasting cut flower) this year we’ve dedicated two full beds in our new tunnel to trialling a range of different varieties. They seem to enjoy growing under cover alongside the dahlias, and we are able to protect them from the vagaries of the British weather this way. After a heavy rainstorm we spotted golden and raspberry pink blooms glowing in the interior of the tunnel and snapped some rain-speckled photos through the plastic covering.
